Nic Kaplan, Director of Lifespan Religious Education

Hello, I’m Nic (they, them).

I joined the UUS staff in June 2022 as the Director of Lifespan Religious Education.  In the past year, this has included planning all ages programming, running the youth group, organizing and leading children’s religious education, leading comprehensive sexuality education, facilitating book discussions, and running summer camps.  While I supported and led some adult focused programming this past year, my role has grown to include leadership of the covenant groups and the other mind and spirit groups and the new member classes so

that I now oversee and support all educational programming.  I’ve also begun laying the groundwork for UUS to be able to grow a campus ministry program.  So much project-focused work really appeals to the way my brain functions best.

I am thrilled that my spouse’s remote work allowed us the flexibility to pick up and move here last year.  We have two amazing kids and three cats.  If it were up to me, our entire home would be overrun by animals.  I love to be outside, but I also love to spend the whole day playing anything from MarioKart to Dungeons & Dragons to board and card games with my family.  Lately, I have been enjoying painting with watercolors to relax.

My current working hours:

  • Sunday – 9 am-4 pm
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 9 am – 3 pm
  • Meetings by Scheduled Appointment
