New UUS member Suzan Erem and her husband Paul Durrenberger invite you to join them at their 75-acre nature farm throughout the growing season and beyond. Free events include a potluck in the prairie, photo and bird walks, tastings from the orchards, a Milpa garden and even a Winter Solstice bonfire, weather permitting. They partner with experts whenever possible to make each event as educational and fun as possible.

Suzan and Paul coined the term “nature farm” to represent their ongoing efforts to grow table food sustainably amongst prairie and timber. While most of the land is wild, they’ve been transitioning some of it to Asian pear, chestnut and honeyberry orchards in addition to what they grow around their home. They are retired founders of the Sustainable Iowa Land Trust, and Draco Hill was their first inspiration for that work.

Draco Hill is located about a 30-minute drive from Iowa City, 7 miles north of I-80 at the West Liberty exit.
