DESCRIPTION:We are excited to partner with UI Chamber Residency Program again to host the annual Summer Chamber Music Tour. Join us on May 14 at 6:30pm!This event is free and open to public. Free-will donations welcome to support UUS Music Outreach Program\nRepertoire:\nString Quintet No. 2 in G Major\, Op. 111 by Johannes Brahms\nPlan and Elevation by Caroline Shaw\nString Quartet No. 7\, Op. 59\, No. 1\, I. Allegro\nGroup Bio:\nFormed in 2024\, Leo Quintet consists of violinists Hugo Kaut and Renee Santos\, violinist and violist Ollie Bostian\, violist Allie Schumacher\, and cellist Celia Phillips. An ensemble of the University of Iowa’s Chamber Music Residency Program\, Leo Quintet is coached by Prof. Elizabeth Oakes and has studied with members of the Takács\, Elias\, Aizuri\, and JACK quartets. Members of Leo have played with orchestras in Iowa City\, Cedar Rapids\, Waterloo/Cedar Falls\, and Omaha\, and in masterclasses with Caroline Shaw\, Liza Ferschtman\, Jinjoo Cho\, Choong-Jin Chang\, and Clive Greensmith. Members of the quintet have served as concertmaster\, assistant concertmaster\, principal viola\, and assistant principal cello of the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra. Violist Allie Schumacher recently performed as a soloist with the University of Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the UNI Viola Festival Concerto Competition.\nIn December of 2023\, members of the Leo gave a full-length recital\, performing Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 7 and Caroline Shaw’s Plan and Elevation. This summer\, Leo Quintet will join other ensembles from the University of Iowa in a tour across the state of Iowa.

SUMMARY:Flute Choir Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Iowa City Flute Choir is a semi-professional community music ensemble made up of local professionals and adult amateurs in Iowa City and the surrounding areas.  ICFC was formed in 2018 by four local musicians and has quickly grown to more than 25 flutists\, performing several times a year at local Iowa City community locations.\nPerformances include repertoire ranging in emotion from lighthearted to deeply moving and often feature an informative session where players present the different types of flutes.
