UU Voices is a section of the UUS website devoted to sharing stories written by and about congregation members and their activities related to UU principles. We encourage all members to send us personal stories and ideas.

Story categories

We are interested in all types of stories for UU Voices, but especially in the following categories:

This I Believe

Stories that illustrate our individual searches for truth and meaning. Inspiring examples can be found in the “This I Believe” book available in the UUS library. Summer service sermon adaptations and other similar work may be ideal for this category.

Love in Action

Stories that illustrate work related to social justice, community service, sustainability, etc.

Story sharing on other platforms

Once stories are published on the UUS website, they may also be considered for sharing in the UUS weekly email and on the UUS Facebook page. If for any reason you would prefer not to have your story promoted on other platforms, please let us know during the submission process.

Submission guidelines

Stories should ideally be 500-750 words in length, but all pieces will be considered. It is also helpful to include a photo at the highest resolution you have available to help illustrate the theme of your story, but that detail can be worked out later, if needed.

The Publicity Committee will provide basic proofreading and editing to smooth out any issues in punctuation, grammar, and clarity, but will aim to publish your work as close to its original form as possible.

Submit your work or any ideas you have to the Publicity Coordinator at publicity@uusic.org.
