“Harmony & CommUUniTea” Concert and Afternoon Tea

October 28, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

On Sunday, October 28th, the LIROS wind ensemble will hold a concert in the Sanctuary followed by an afternoon tea in the Fellowship Hall. LIROS is made up of five wind players: flute, horn, oboe, clarinet and bassoon. The name of the group was created using the initials of the members’ last names. The concert program will include wind quintet literature drawn from an eighteenth century piece by Paul Taffanel, a twenty-first-century piece by Karl Jenkins, arrangements of dance music, and a Dvorak bagatelle.

The Afternoon Tea will be served in the Fellowship Hall. Judith Leavitt, UUS’ tea master, will usher guests through a formal four-level affair following the concert. The tea servings will be paired with appropriate food. Judith will provide interesting details about the afternoon tea tradition and the history of tea. Tickets are $10 per person, and will be available after services on the first three Sundays in October or by contacting the office. You must buy a ticket in advance to attend. Profits from the event will support the UUS Music Fund and the Oakdale Community Choir. Contact Gloria Corbin with questions (music@uusic.org).
