Beyond Sunday services, you will find a variety classes, workshops and forums in which to deepen your spiritual journey, engage in social justice issues, and grow personally and in community.
Note that some events require registration and/or a commitment to attend multiple sessions.
The UUS Buddhist Sangha is a community of people who gather weekly for silent meditation and discussion of contemporary Buddhist teachings. Diversity of view is welcome as a foundation for collective wisdom. Our mutual support promotes clarity, compassion and ethical behavior through the practice of mindfulness. The cornerstone of the Free Lunch Program is, “an open door, a full plate and no questions asked.” A hot meal is served six days a week at 1105 S. Gilbert Court, Iowa City. Since 1985, UUS has provided the Free Lunch meal on the second Friday of every month. The Racial Justice Team strives to educate ourselves through various venues (reading, discussion, media, programs).
