Adult education events
A variety of structured educational opportunities are scheduled each year, with particular focus on spiritual development and issues of social or environmental justice.
Our members support a wide range of groups and teams that provide opportunities to develop spiritually, serve the community, build relationships, gather socially, and support the needs of the congregation. Newcomers and new groups are always welcome.

The UUS Buddhist Sangha is a community of people who gather weekly for silent meditation and discussion of contemporary Buddhist teachings. Diversity of view is welcome as a foundation for collective wisdom. Our mutual support promotes clarity, compassion and ethical behavior through the practice of mindfulness. The cornerstone of the Free Lunch Program is, “an open door, a full plate and no questions asked.” A hot meal is served six days a week at 1105 S. Gilbert Court, Iowa City. Since 1985, UUS has provided the Free Lunch meal on the second Friday of every month.
