Our most distant outreach this past dozen years has
been to Parochia Unitaria in the tiny village of Janosfalva, Romania.
Money raised and contributed by our members has enabled that congregation
to purchase farm machinery, repair a deteriorating school to make it
useable by the village children, renovate the parsonage, and continue
buying computers and other school equipment.
Each spring we celebrate the Festival of the First
Bread with a Romanian dinner prepared by our members and an auction
of clothing and decorative items made by members of the Parochia Unitaria
congregation, with the proceeds therefrom sent directly to that Partner
Church for good works in the village and surrounding farms. Several
of our members have visited Janosfalva, and the minister there, Rev.
Sandor Simo and his wife Melinda, have visited us here in Iowa City.
