UUSIC is proud to be building the greenest church in Iowa at our new home in Coralville, just west of Iowa City. Our historic home at 10 S. Gilbert is part of an exciting new project and will continue to provide comfort and community to our neighbors. The new site, located at 2355 Oakdale Road, is home to much more than our beautiful new building. We have trails, gardens, and other outdoor features thoughtfully designed and cared for by our volunteer-based committees. The process has been democratic from the beginning, and we are thankful to our members and friends for their insights, engagement, and support. See photos from our historic property, the Oakdale site at the time of purchasing, and the construction process. The Greenest Church in Iowa
As an important part of our seven principles, UUSIC has a long history of being proactive, holistic stewards of the Earth. Committees like Green Sanctuary help us to be as eco-conscious as possible, from compostable flatware at potlucks to designing our new 18,600 square foot home. Read about some of the building’s sustainable features, view designs for our gorgeous natural surroundings, and learn more about how being green relates to our history, mission, and faith.
As we transition to the new building in October 2017, our Sunday services are held at Sanctuary Community Church in Coralville. Join us for announcements and fellowship at 1:30pm. Services start at 1:45.
The Coralville building will offer beautiful, modern, eco-conscious spaces for weddings, meetings, and all kinds of community events. Please contact the administrator for more information about policies and rates, or to check our calendar.
