The UUSIC is a caring community. We show our concern
by supporting local, national and international programs that promote
social justice and diverse lifestyles, and by assisting members and
friends who are in need. Please see our
Congregational Support page for opportunities to share your time
helping members, services, and other programs.
Financial Support
This year, we are again supporting 10 social service organizations, six through special solicitations, five through direct support. UUSIC made cash donations to Crisis Center, Emma Goldman Clinic, Free Medical Clinic, UNICEF, and the UU Service Committee. Special solicitations resulted in donations from the congregation for the Domestic Violence Intervention Program, Free Dental Clinic, Consultation of Religious Communities Common Fund, Shelter House, and Youth Homes.
Other activities this year have included:
Free Lunch Program UUSIC volunteers continue to provide tasty, nourishing hot meals to
100+ diners at the Free Lunch program in the Wesley Center. Gathering on
the second Friday of each month, UUs serve food that is prepared
by UU volunteers. Contact the UUSIC office to reach a volunteer coordinator.
NAMI COMPEER dinner - COMPEER encourages friendships among people with
and without mental illness; the dinner at UUSIC provided an evening of good food
and fellowship for participants.
