Information
for
ushers and
greeters |
Sunday morning
is a high point of the
week for many of us when, with our children, we
come together with our minister, our choir, and some two dozen
dedicated teachers from our Lifespan Education program.
Interim Minister Benjamin Maucere
comes to us from Houston, Texas, where he was also an
interim minister. He has also served as the
minister of the First Unitarian Church of
Philadelphia.
Each Sunday,
one or more of our members serves as a
Worship Associate
during the service, assisting and, from time to
time engaging in dialogue, with our minister.
Other features of the service, besides the
sermon, include:
Solo or
small-group musical presentations: anthems,
hymns and musical responses by our excellent
choir
Periods of
spoken and silent meditation
Brief
expressions by members and guests about joys
and sorrows that they have recently
experienced or are currently experiencing
Our children join
us for in the first portion of the service,
during which they are told or read a story
(often leading to future discussion around the
family table), and hear the special music,
before leaving for their
religious education
classes.
During our Sunday
"Coffee Hour," voices rise in greeting, meeting
and fellowship in Channing Hall, located
downstairs in our building, until children
arrive to claim their parents.
Special services
are occasionally held, such as evening vespers
during
Welcome Home
Wednesdays, and celebrations of holidays
meaningful to us, as well as to those of other
faiths.
