*The Common Fund is collected by
the Consultation of Religious
Communities, administered through the
Crisis Center, and used to help pay
rent, utility bills, etc. The Crisis
Center requires that the person
requesting help bring in the bill and
the money is sent directly to the
landlord, utility company etc. People
can only receive this assistance once
every three months, and the money is
given based on a lottery system. Most
assistance is limited to $100 or less.
There are always many more people
requesting assistance than there are
funds available. UUSIC is a member of
the CRC and has contributed to the
Common Fund since 2002.
