Interweave
|
As many of you know, LGBTQA members of
our congregation joined the national
UU Interweave organization after UUSIC
became an "official" Welcoming
Congregation in May, 1997.
Over the years, we have sponsored
political, educational, and social
events. One of our main goals is to
stop homophobia, biphobia, and
transphobia, and we will continue to
work with such organizations as
OneIowa, Iowa Pride Network, Eastern
Iowa GSA Coalition, and the U of I
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender
and Allies Union. However, we feel
that now is the time for us to join
with the UU
Social Justice
Committee in our efforts to
create social change.
The next Social Justice Committee
meeting is Monday, Feb. 13th at 7 PM
in the Fireside Room. If you are not
already a member of the Social Justice
Committee, please consider attending.
Let’s work together to create social
change!

Why Interweave?
Supporting our UUSIC commitment to being a
Welcoming
Congregation,
the
UUSIC chapter
of Interweave
includes lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people, and their heterosexual
friends and allies. We meet on each month for social action, education, and fun.
Check the UUSIC
calendar
for dates and places, or
email us,
and put "Interweave" in the
"Subject" line.
This group helped guide the congregation
through the process of becoming a Welcoming Congregation, and today, we are active
participants in Pride Month events each June.
You can learn
more about the
history of Interweave here. If you would like
additional information, or referral
to an Interweave associate, please
email us.

Office

events,
