Make a Difference!
Last year we
celebrated the
centennial of our
building at 10 S.
Gilbert. Now we are
ready to start another
century of providing liberal religious
programming and
services to our UUSIC
community and beyond.
In 2010 we will
continue our search
for a settled
minister. We will need
additional funds to
conduct that search.
We need to continue
paying our
professional staff a
fair salary with
benefits. All of the
services and
activities we provide
require financial
commitment.
In a
typical year we spend:
26% of our budget
on lifespan
religious
education
26% on worship and
music
22% on membership
services
11% on UUA/PSD
connections
10% on other UUSIC
programs
5% on community outreach
If we alll
pledge at our last
year’s level, that
will only keep us
solvent; if we
increase our pledge,
it will move us
forward and make a
difference. We
encourage each of you
to consider pledging
3% to 5% of your
income. The pledge
card that you received
with your brochure is
easy to fill out and
turn in. On the back
of the pledge form you
will also find an
authorization form to
start or continue
automatic payment of
your pledge to our
UUSIC bank account.
That helps greatly
with our cash flow,
and makes pledging
easier for you as
well. Please return
your pledge card by
Sunday, October 4,
2009.
UUSIC Mission and
Goals
As you know, our
Unitarian Universalist
Society of Iowa City
is an inclusive and
free religious
community that
nurtures intellectual
and spiritual growth,
and fosters ethical
and social
responsibility. To
support our
mission, we open our
doors to ALL people
who desire the kind of
spiritual home we
offer.
To support all those who
enter, we
strive to provide:
 |
-
Lifespan religious
education
-
Intergenerational
worship services
-
Social justice
programs
-
Loving and
supportive
pastoral care
-
A hospitality
program
-
Accessible and
pleasing buildings
and grounds with
adequate space
|
Please increase your
pledge for the 2010,
and help support the
accomplishment of our
shared mission and
goals.
Our UUSIC Community
As you think of all the
activities going on at

seriously about what

our budget, which must
also cover such
expenses as air
conditioning and

consider your pledge,
please be generous.
