Sharing the journey of mind and spirit

Greetings from New Orleans
and the UUSIC Senior High Youth Group!

We arrived here on a Sunday and started work on Monday.  We picked up debris from yards that were under 7 - 10 feet of water for weeks. It was very dirty and we were saddened when we find people's personal possessions that they were not able to save when the water came.

We helped to "build" two little league diamonds - the dirt was delivered in a dump truck and we created the diamonds by hauling and spreading the dirt with wheelbarrows and shovels.

We worked so hard for 4 days and we felt like we did not even made a dent -- there is SO MUCH work to be done here!  It seems like the rest of the country has forgotten about the people in New Orleans.

We all looked forward to sharing our stories and our pictures when we returned to UUSIC!
