Book Discussions
Freewheeling discussion of books at 7:30 PM in the Library on the second Monday of each month. Attendees chose the books at the beginning of the year. If you like to read, we invite you to attend.

Buildings and Grounds
We meet as needed to coordinate the ongoing care of our buildings and grounds, including painting and repairs. John Jennewein, jjennewein@earthlink.net.

 

Children and Youth Committee
We support R.E. teachers, develop programs and policies, and plan intergenerational events.  We always welcome new members, and offer enriching opportunities to help out with one-time events or with ongoing projects, as well as to make new friends at UUSIC.

Choir
The choir performs the musical meditation for services one Sunday each month, and responses on other selected Sundays. New members are always welcome – we have no auditions. We rehearse Thursdays from 7:15 PM - 8:30 PM in the Sanctuary – feel free to join in!

Circle Suppers

A casual gathering of UUSIC members and friends for a meal; open to all. Sign up required so the host will know the number attending.  Hosts will call the guests and jointly agree on a dish for the guest to bring.

Dances of Universal Peace
On the first Sunday of each month, we gather at 7 PM in Channing Hall for simple folk dances and chants honoring various religious traditions. These prayerful, heart-opening dances foster connections between people; no experience needed, instruction provided.

Drum Circle
We meet the first Wednesday of each month in Channing Hall at 7 PM for an inclusive, fun, and rhythmic community of all styles and stripes. Bring your own instrument, or use available cow bells, Native American prayer drum, Latin conga – you’ll find room for your song!

Historical Records
We preserve the history of UUSIC and its members and friends by collecting, cataloging, and organizing historical materials of many types. We also share information about our heritage through newsletter articles and displays.

InterweaveSupporting our UUSIC commitment to being a Welcoming Congregation, our group includes lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people, and their heterosexual allies. We meet on the Second Monday of each month for social action, education, and fun.

Partner Church Task Force
Through our relationship with our partner church in Janosfalva, we learn more about Romanian Unitarians. We raise money to support the church and village through our winter Festival of First Bread.

Unicare & Pastoral Care
We meet once a month, and work with our minister to provide pastoral care to members and friends who contact us to arrange visits.

Through Unicare, we offer person-to-person assistance for members and friends in need; volunteers provide food, home visits, receptions following memorial services, and other support.

Rummage Sale
Every August before fall semester begins, we have a grand time selling donated stuff at our annual sale, which provides students with household items, promotes recycling, and contributes to our UUSIC coffers.

Religious Education

RE classes for Pre-K through Grade 6 attend the first 15 minutes of services and then meet in their classrooms during  9:30 & 11:00 Services.  Junior and Senior youth meet at 10:45 AM.

Social Justice Coordinating Committee
We meet monthly on the second Monday at 7 PM to coordinate UUSIC community service activities. Once or twice a month after services, we offer advocacy opportunities at the Social Justice table in Channing Hall.

Treats and Talents Auction
An annual auction in Channing Hall, usually in April, connects UUs all year though parties, artwork, and services such as yard work, painting, and carpentry. Proceeds benefit the UUSIC general fund.

Ushers
Each Sunday six ushers, three at each service, greet and seat people, hand out bulletins, provide hearing devices, and take the offering.

Young Adult Group
UUs and potential UUs between the ages of 18 and 35ish meet every Sunday at 12:15 to discuss spirituality and personal growth.

Welcome Home Wednesdays
In two, 6-week sessions on Wednesday evenings, October-November and February-March, participants share a catered dinner at 5:45 PM, vespers at 6:30, and adult education from 7:00-8:30.
