Social Justice focus for December: Domestic Violence Intervention Project
Since 1977, the DVIP has worked "to provide comprehensive support and advocacy to victims/survivors, focusing on immediate and long-term safety, empowerment, dignity and hope." In collaboration with the community, DVIP strives to end domestic abuse through education, accountability and social justice." They provide direct services -- incoming crisis phone calls, safe shelter -- for women and children in Johnson, Iowa, Cedar, and Washington Counties. Please be generous in helping this program continue its work, founded on the belief that "everyone has the right to live free of fear and harm." During February, all cash donated via Sunday collections, and checks to UUSIC with "DVIP" on the memo line, will support this important program. Thank you!
