Facilities Planning Task Force
January, 2012
An 8-member Facilities Planning Task Force
has been appointed by the board to conduct
a thorough, unbiased, and informative study
that will allow the UUSIC to make an
informed and definite decision this year
(2012) on facilities as we look ahead to
the next 15-20 years and beyond. The work
of the task force is expected to culminate
in the drafting of a document that
articulates specific recommendations on
what facilities are needed for the UUSIC
to fulfill its mission in the future and
how best to achieve the goal of attaining
such facilities.
The activities of the Task Force may
include, but are not limited to:
-
Reviewing all existing data about
UUSIC’s facilities, including reports from
the previous vision processes, transcripts
of the recent building forums, last year’s
building survey and information gathered
recently by Board members.
-
Interviewing key people who have
additional information about needs and
projected growth/needs in specific areas
(such as RE) and also those who have
expertise, information and experience
pertinent to the work of the Task Force.
-
Identifying what additional information
is needed and how to gather that
information. (Note: This may require the
help of external consultants and a modest
amount of funding will be made available
to the Task Force to pay consultants.)
-
Assessing the viability of options
(e.g., renovation of the current
facilities vs. building a new facility) to
meet our projected needs and aspirations.
-
Assembling general cost estimates and
other information regarding the most
likely options.
The Task Force will meet monthly and the
meetings will be open to the congregation
and agendas will be announced in advance.
A monthly report of activities and
progress will be submitted to the Board
each month.
