Recognizing that the ministry
of UUSIC is a collective
enterprise and that we are all
ministers responsible for the
ministry of UUSIC, the UUSIC
Board has approved a Committee
on Congregational Life and
Ministry. The work of the
seven members of this
committee, who represent a
cross-section of UUSIC, will
reflect this shared ministry.
The
committee’s stated purpose is:
To monitor the ministries of
the UUSIC shared by the
minister and groups within the
congregation and to evaluate
and strengthen the
effectiveness of these
ministries in supporting the
church’s mission and the
vision articulated by the
board.
Members of
the committee will work
individually with the various
ministry groups in the church
— worship associates, RE,
pastoral care, interest
groups, etc. — tracking the
work and interaction of these
groups with each other and
with the minister,
facilitating communication,
and fostering a strong sense
of the community as an
interdependent whole.
Committee members also
anticipate receiving comments
regarding concerns or
suggestions about the life of
the society from all.
Another
important aspect of the
committee’s work will be to
participate in evaluations of
the ministry of the church —
both paid and volunteer.
Special attention will be
given to evaluations of the
minister during his three-year
probationary period with the
UUA.
Jacob
Altman, Kelly O’Berry, Jim
Olson, Diana Henry, Will
Jewell, Bonnie Penno, and
Jeanette Carter are the
members of the committee, with
Steven Protzman and Lois Cole
ex-officio. We look forward to
serving the society in this
important capacity.
