UUSIC ANNUAL MEETING

June 7, 2009

Minutes

President Jeffery Ford called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. and announced there was a quorum present.

Reverend Benjamin Maucere gave his interim minister’s report. He reported the deaths of Dee Norton, John McLure, Ruth Williams, Wayne Johnson, and Betty McKray during the past year. One child was born, Joseph Hayek to Matthew and Mary Kate Hayek. Seventeen marriages were performed in a marriage equality ceremony following the Iowa Supreme Court decision allowing same-sex marriage.

Vicki Siefers was praised for her excellent coordination of services for victims of the flood in 2008, which directly affected many members of the congregation.

Leadership
Douglas Wallace of the Leadership Development Committee presented nominees for

leadership positions:

Leadership Development: Deb Schoelerman and Michael Cervantes
Vice President: Russ Lenth
President: Arnold Lindaman

All were elected unanimously.

Ministerial Search Committee
The search committee slate selected by the executive board was nominated and chosen unanimously. They are:

Susan Salterberg

Kelly O’Berry

Zach Wahls

Nancy Noyer

Douglas Wallace

Mary McMurray

            Alternates:
               Jean Reese
               Kris Barrash

Steve Locher congratulated Jeffery on his hard work in setting up the search committee.

In response to several comments about the need to make a decision about the building before a new minister arrives, Benjamin stated that he will help us work on our purpose, identity, and direction this year, which will help us decide on the building’s fate.

All were urged to maintain timely pledge donations to avoid cash flow problems this year.

Mark Yuskis reported a successful Secular Humanist event which raised $750 for the general fund, and the highly successful auction this spring was mentioned.

Closing words were given by Reverend Benjamin.
